Pressure injury or pressure ulcers can occur when someone sits or lies for too long in one position without moving or shifting their weight. Blood vessels take oxygen and nutrients to every part of the body, including the skin. Constant pressure in one area means that blood and nutrients are not able to reach the skin in this area. Tissue that is deprived of oxygen and other nutrients for even a short period of time will eventually die. This can lead to very serious complications, and cause great pain and suffering to patients.

With a wool length of around 25 mm, this luxurious rug has a very dense and springy wool fibre, which supports the body and allows air to flow freely to the skin. This also helps regulate temperature, helping to keep cool in summer and warm in winter. The rug can also absorb up to 30% of its weight in water without feeling wet.

The rug is hand trimmed for a natural shape, with a leather backing that has soft buffed suede finish. Available in either an Ivory or a Gold colour, the rug measures one metre long and over half a metre wide.
