Dental injuries are the most common type of oro-facial injuries sustained during sport with the upper central and lateral incisors accounting for approximately 83% of all dental injuries. The importance of wearing mouth guards to reduce such injuries is well researched, however the vast majority of sports people, as a result of poor alternatives and the absence of education programs, have used inferior ‘generic’ mouth guards purchased on the basis of non-critical factors such as colour and price. These generic mouth guards neither fit nor protect effectively.

While these types will never match the soundness of the professional custom hand made laboratory type, Signatures' cutting edge design and production techniques have allowed many of the unique features present in the custom fabricated types to be incorporated into these ‘off the shelf’ types providing a level of protection and comfort not before available in any ‘generic’ mouth guard product.

The Signature Type 2 mouth guard is designed for contact sport. It is suitable for beginner and intermediate level of competition. Its added extra “Lower Impact Strip” feature increases its safety and protection level and raises it to a class above the Type 1.

The Type 2 has a special lower impact strip which helps secure the lower teeth against the underside of the mouth guard. This special impact strip aids greatly in reducing the risk of jaw injury and the incidence of concussion. This feature is highly recommended for the more serious sporting individual.
